Causes of WW1

The first world war began in 1914. It was triggerd by the murder of Franz Ferdinand. but there are many other causes of war however the assasination was one of the main reasons the war was declared. Militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism played major role in the conflict. The rise of military resources was a huge part. People started to go into a state of total war where the whole country used all their resources to make guns, tanks, etc.

Alliances: An alliance is a contract made between two or more countries to give each other help if its needed. When an alliance is signed those coutries are known as allies. There were too many alliances. Every country was in to protect another and the result of this was entangling Alliances.
Imperialism: imperialism is when a country takes over new lands or countries and makes them subject to their rules. By 1900 the british empire extended over five continents and France had control of large areas in Africa. All of the countries were competing for land in other countries as they were expanding their borders of their empires.
Nationalism: nationalism means being a strong supporter of the rights and interests of ones coutry. Large areas of both Austria-Hungary, and Serbia was home to differing nationalist groups all of whome wanted freedom the states inwhich they lived. Women started work. This was the tie between Militarism and Nationalism. Everyone was preparing for this war.
